I grew up near Gig Harbor, but for the last year or so I have considered a place in Northeast Seattle to be my home. In the Seattle area, and especially Northeast Seattle, bicycling is an activity that many people, including myself, take part in, whether it is for leisure or transportation. So I to wanted create a map showing the general area that provided information on bike-ability. I show areas of improved safety, and also areas that could pose threats to exposed cyclists. The blue star shows the approximate location of where I live, this way point was collected using a Garmin handheld device. Within ArcMap, the GPX way point file was converted to a shape file so it could be displayed on the map. The base map I used was provided by Esri’s ArcGIS online database, and the rest of the data was provided by the City of Seattle.
